seven year itch? no, thank you!

Yesterday was our 7th wedding anniversary! It was our first time having all three children babysat while we went to the pub. Drinking a pint of Guinness & Black with my lovely husband has to be one of my favourite ways to spend an evening. Great to get out and not have the distractions of TV and Internet stunting conversation!

Having said that, we watched Lie To Me while eating our curry. I love that programme so much. Don't get me started!

This time seven years ago we were about to buy our first house, move to Leyland and start Dave's new role as Youth Minister with our new Church family.

So much has changed! We have three hilarious, gorgeous and exhausting children. Were in a different house. We're at a plant of the Church we started out at. Dave is now doing a job in education while we wait for the right Youth Ministry job to come up. Were looking into the future and (often tearfully) coming to terms with the fact that we'll probably be moving away from our friends and family who are so important and precious to us.

Honestly, it's not where I thought we'd be. There are times I wonder if we've gone wrong somewhere. At moments like that I just need to look back and remember how God has cared for, provided for and blessed us - it's the only way I can look into an unknown future with confidence that it'll be all right!

Oh, and may I just boast a bit about Dave? A brilliant Christmas talk he has done has been made into a booklet to get people thinking about what Christmas is all about. You can see it here. It's based on the song, "Santa Claus is coming to town" and he is the only person I have ever heard of to get a thousand sullen teenagers spontaneously singing along as he gave the talk at the school he now works in (Glee, eat your heart out!).

It's a great little booklet and well worth a purchase! I highly recommend it for sending with your Christmas cards!
I'm such a lucky girl to be married to him.

Hey alice, congrats on your anniversary! What is scary is that I probably met you 7 years ago... for that cuppa in bruscianni's.... seems like a life time ago. Plus, I'm so pleased that dave's talk got publicised. He did it at a UCLAN carol service and also had a bunch of uni students in stitches!

I'm baaaack... Happy anniversary! I promise you, with God in your home, each year only gets better. Even when it's hard - better and better and better.

Hey, I was stopping by to ask you "in person" if you would like to join my blog swap. I think it might be something you'd really enjoy. Of course, if you don't want to, I completely understand. Still... I'd be delighted to have you. Happy Friday! It's almost here. Oh, I forgot to say that sign up ends tomorrow night.
